Restoration for Military Families — Run by a Retired Marine
PCS move damage, contents pack-out and storage, and water, mold, fire and smoke damage in on-post and off-post housing. Stars and Bars Restoration is owned by Robert Hewett, Sergeant, USMC (Retired). We have moved. We have been the family waiting on a claim. We answer the phone ourselves, 24 hours a day.

What Military Restoration Actually Covers
"Military restoration" is not a separate license — it is knowing how military families actually lose property. It is the container that sat in a humid hold for six weeks, the pipe that broke in base housing while you were at NTC, the mold on the mattress that came back from overseas, and the claim paperwork nobody explained to you. We handle all of it, and we do it on a schedule that respects report dates and deployment windows.
PCS move damage
Household goods come off the truck wet, mildewed, or crushed after weeks in a container. We clean, deodorize, and restore what can be saved, document what cannot, and give you an itemized report you can hand straight to your claim.
Contents pack-out and storage
If your quarters are not livable, we inventory and pack out your belongings, clean them off-site, store them, and pack them back in when the house is ready. Every item is photographed and logged.
On-post and off-post housing losses
Burst pipes, roof leaks, appliance floods, mold behind the drywall, fire and smoke. We work in privatized base housing and in the rentals and homes off post around Fort Carson, Pueblo, and the Greenhorn Valley.
Losses while you are deployed or TDY
A pipe does not wait for you to get home. We coordinate with your spouse, your property manager, or your power of attorney, send photo updates, and keep the job moving while you are gone.
Mold from humidity and overseas shipments
Gear and furniture that sat in a humid hold grows mold in transit. We test, treat, and tell you honestly what is worth saving and what should be claimed as a loss.
Claim documentation that holds up
Xactimate estimates, moisture logs, daily photos, and a written scope. We bill carriers directly and give you clean paperwork whether the claim goes through your insurer or through a moving-damage claim.

Military Restoration FAQs
Are you actually veteran owned?
Yes. Robert Hewett, the owner, is a retired United States Marine Corps Sergeant. He answers the phone and he runs the jobs. That is not a badge we bought — it is who owns the company.
Do you work with USAA?
We regularly handle claims for USAA policyholders and work with every major carrier — USAA, State Farm, Allstate, Farmers, American Family and more. To be clear and honest: we are an independent contractor and we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a preferred vendor of USAA. You have the right to choose your own restoration contractor no matter who your carrier is.
My household goods came back damaged from a move. Is that an insurance claim?
Usually it is a moving claim, not a homeowner claim. Your household goods are covered at full replacement value through the transportation service provider. You have 180 days from delivery to give notice of loss or damage in DPS, and 9 months from delivery to file the claim. We can inspect, restore what is restorable, and give you written documentation of what is not — which is exactly what the claim process asks for.
Can you work while I am deployed?
Yes. We will work with your spouse, a family member, your property manager, or someone holding your power of attorney, and we send photo and status updates so you know what is happening to your home from wherever you are.
Do you cover Fort Carson and Colorado Springs?
Yes. We are based in Colorado City and cover Fort Carson, Colorado Springs, Fountain, Security-Widefield, Pueblo, and all of Southern Colorado. Emergency response is 24/7.
What does it cost?
Estimates are free. Most sudden losses — a burst pipe, an appliance flood, a fire — are covered by your policy, and we bill the carrier directly. We will tell you up front if we think something is not worth filing a claim over.
You have the right to choose your own contractor.
No carrier, no housing office, and no moving company can require you to use a specific restoration company. If you want the job done by people who live here and who have worn the uniform, call us.
